Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
28 years
What is your primary product or service?
Plants. Annuals, perennials, vegetables and herbs along with advice on what to plant for the customer's situation.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My family has always had gardens that I helped in since I was small. I'm 67 now and it's a large part of me.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We grow our plants here and most are from seed as opposed to buying plants from wholesale greenhouses out-of-state. We grow them, so we know them!
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Only one where we can give personal service.
Provide detailed directions to your location
We're off outer Forest Ave. (Rt. 302) in Portland. From Morrill's Corner drive 1 1/2 miles to the Riverton fire station on the left. Across from that is Newton St. Go all the way to the end where you must turn left onto our road (Randolph St).
What type of payments do you accept?
All credit cards, cash and checks.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Peter and Claudia Risbara
What are your hours of operation?
April 15-July 3. 8:30-5:30.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
Our plants are the best they have ever bought.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
Oh, what a beautiful morning, oh, what a beautiful day. I've got a beautiful feeling everything's going my way!
