I can't say enough great things about Beth. Having made a big purchase online, I wanted to make sure I was getting what I paid. Beth’s expertise and knowledge reassured me about my purchase.
At the appointment Beth made me feel comfortable right from the start. I was free to ask any of the many questions I had about the ring. She explained to me exactly what she was doing each step while evaluating the jewelry. Best of all, Beth was very honest and unbiased. I never felt any pressure to get an appraisal because I was just there to get some verification on my purchase.
I would not hesitate to refer any friends or family to come see Beth. I will definitely come see Beth again for any jewelry assistance or advice.

Not knowing which direction to go to when it came to getting my jewelry professionally appraised, I stumbled upon New England Gem Appraisals website. I really liked it. It was intelligent, informative and not just a bunch of fluff like so many other websites. And I liked that New England Gem Appraisals didn't buy or sell or work at a jewelry stroe, so their opinions would be unbiased. I decided to call Beth and after talking to her decided to set up an appointment. Beth Doughty was professional and very knowledgeable in many different aspects of the fine jewelry industry (she is a second generation jeweler). I walked away with not only the appraisal I contracted for, but a wealth of knowledge about many of the pieces of jewelry I had her appraise. I will definitely use Beth for all my appraisal needs in the future. I highly recommend her!

It was a pleasure working with Beth and I highly recommend her services to anyone who needs a jewelry appraisal, especially for a large purchase like an engagement ring.
I needed an appraisal for a diamond ring I was about to give my girlfriend. I was concerned about my purchase but Beth gave me the confidence I needed in knowing the diamond I purchased was exactly what I thought I had paid for. Her appraisal was very detailed and through.
Beth demonstrated that she is an industry expert and I would highly recommend her to anyone.

If you've never had good jewelry appraised and aren't even sure what you own, it can be nerve wracking to find someone you can trust. Do you go to the jewelry store in the mall? No. New England Gem Appraisals is the place. Friendly, unassuming, answers dumb questions that they have probably heard a million times. Reams of experience. Works in front of you. Provides great documentation for insurance purposes. Will tell you something is not authentic in the kindest way.
Expertise is not cheap, but their service is worth the cost; knowing for sure from someone with no stake in the outcome lets you sleep better.

I recently made a large diamond ring purchase, and was seeking an independent appraiser, one that wouldn't be biased and would give me an honest appraisal. I searched online and found New England Gem Appraisals as one of the recommended appraisers in the Boston area. I shot Beth Doughty an e-mail, and she was very quick to call me back. She was also very accommodating to my scheduling needs.
During our meeting, she examined the ring without looking at any of the documentation so that she could give me her honest opinion without being biased towards the information provided on the GIA Cert. She was able to verify the stats of the diamond and ring, and matched what was provided on the GIA Cert, which was assuring. She explained in detail as she performed each step in her examination process, allowing me to absorb her wealth of information. She was patient with me as I asked her question after question.
Once the examination was complete, she told me it would take her a couple days to complete the appraisal report. I was blown away when I received it. The depth and information provided on the appraisal is much more than I was expecting. She went beyond my expectations.
I highly recommend Beth Doughty for all your jewelry appraising needs. She will not disappoint.
